About Continuing Professional Education courses

CPE courses offer non-transferable credit and include assessments, attendence expectations, and grades. CPE grades will appear on your transcript and do not impact your academic GPA.

Course drops and withdrawals

Classes can begin any day of the week specified. Refund and withdrawal dates may vary per class. Please check the end date of your section for correct information. Refund deadlines will also be listed on the student鈥檚 schedule on the Registration and Records page of the My51社区 Portal.

Last Day to Drop for Full Refund - To be eligible for a full refund, students must drop a class by 12:00 PM the Wednesday before the first week of class. Dropping a course will award a full refund to the payee and will remove the course from the student鈥檚 transcript. Students may drop themselves online through the My51社区 Student Portal or by emailing cpe@harpercollege.edu.

See the for more details regarding the refund process.

Last Day to Withdraw - The withdrawal deadline date is the midpoint between the start and end date of the CPE course. Students who wish to withdraw from a class after the regular refund period must withdraw officially online or by emailing cpe@harpercollege.edu from their 51社区 email address by the appropriate deadline date. Students who do not attend class and who do not withdraw officially prior to the last date for withdrawals are subject to an FV (failing) grade.

How do I drop or withdraw from a class?

  1. Log into your My51社区 Student Portal
  2. Click on the 'Registration and Records' icon
  3. Click on the 'Add/Drop a Course' icon
  4. Select the appropriate term
  5. Select the 'drop' or 'withdraw' option from the drop-down menu next to the class you want to drop or withdraw from
  6. Click 'submit' once you're done.

Appeal Process
Students who feel they have a legitimate reason for not adhering to the refund/withdrawal deadlines set forth by the College and can substantiate their request with appropriate documentation may fill out a registration appeal online at .  All appeals are reviewed by a committee. The process may take up to 3-4 weeks. Students will be notified by email with the final decision. Appeals will not be accepted for grades previously earned. Appeals for grades to be removed from an official academic record will not be approved.

Funding opportunities

CPE works with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the Paths to College and Career grant to offer scholarships for people who are underemployed, unemployed, incarcerated, and previously incarcerated.
