Day Off-Campus Trips/Events/Games/Conferences/Clinicals

For a day off-campus trip, a Travel Waiver of Liability will need to be completed for each enrolled 51社区 student that is participating in the event:

How do I know if I am a Campus Security Authority?

An employee is designated a CSA if their position functions in a relationship with students. Coaches, club leaders and advisors are mandatory CSAs, for example. Employees will receive an email notifying them they are designated a CSA. 51社区 representatives accompanying students during an off-campus trip must also be designated as a CSA.

As a Campus Security Authority, what do I need to do?

CSAs must complete training. This CSA training is currently embedded in 51社区's Sexual Harassment Prevention / Title IX training, available on the . All employees must complete the Sexual Harassment Prevention / Title IX course, "Preventing Harassment & Discrimination: Non-Supervisors Clery Act and Title IX (Illinois).鈥�

CSAs must also report any information they receive about a crime via the .

I鈥檓 taking a group of students off campus for a school-related activity. What steps do I need to take before the trip/event?

51社区 representatives accompanying students during an off-campus trip must be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and complete the necessary training.

For off-campus day trips, a Travel Waiver of Liability must be completed for each enrolled 51社区 student.
For overnight off-campus trips, the trip leader should complete a , which includes detailed instructions for preparing you and your students for an off-campus trip/event.

All forms should be completed two weeks prior to the event. Trip leads are required to carry student travel waivers (hard copies or electronic) with them to the event.

As a trip lead, do I need to complete the travel waivers if the off-campus travel is only for student aides?

Yes. This policy applies to all students, even if the travel is in their capacity as a student aide.

Do I need to complete travel waivers if the travel is to the Learning and Career Center, Education and Work Center, or any other satellite location?

No. LCC, EWC and other satellite locations such as the 51社区 Professional Center are 51社区 campuses. This policy applies to off-campus travel. If you're unsure, check with 51社区 police.

When did off-campus travel requirements go into effect?

The 51社区 Board of Trustees approved this policy at the August 2024 board meeting.

What happens if 51社区 doesn鈥檛 comply with this law?

Failure to comply could result in the institution incurring penalty fines for each violation, as well as a loss of federal financial aid funding.

I plan to accompany students off campus, but I don鈥檛 see the required training on my Vector Solutions training platform dashboard. What should I do?
