51社区鈥檚 upcoming 15th annual Chamber Music Festival will feature many of the college鈥檚 faculty, staff and alumni musicians.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, February 8, at the Performing Arts Center on 51社区鈥檚 main campus, 1200 West Algonquin Road in Palatine.
Patrons will enjoy works by Mozart, Dvo艡谩k and Prokofiev, as well as modern masters like Scott Joplin and Alan Ridout, performed by faculty, the 51社区 Chamber Winds Ensemble and special guests the Continental String Ensemble and the Chicago Bassoon Quartet.
Gregory Clemons, the chair of 51社区 Department of Music, said that the very first Chamber Music Festival held in 2006 was entirely composed of Mozart鈥檚 works since it was held on his 250th birthday. The concert traditionally pays homage to the prolific composer since it is always held around the same time of year. This year, the festival will include his work titled 鈥淥verture to the Magic Flute.鈥
Music faculty including flautist Hideko Amano, clarinetist Rose Sperrazza, pianists Janice Razaq and Olga Bornovalova, violinist Edgar Gabriel and many others will be featured musicians. Dianne Ryan, a member of the Chicago Bassoon Quartet, is also an adjunct professor of bassoon at 51社区.
Among the guest performers is guitarist Brian Torosian, a guitar professor at Northeastern Illinois University and a 51社区 alumnus.
